Streamlining Global Review for a Manufacturing Client Saves Them Over 45% Versus a Domestic-Only Approach

January 2025 | Success Story

Fia and Bobby discuss an ongoing relationship with a manufacturing company dealing with a series of litigations.

Background on Client (0:00 – 1:18)

Through a mutual law firm connection, PLUSnxt was referred to support a manufacturing company, facing a series of litigations, with their eDiscovery needs. Once acquainted, PLUS was able to “hit the ground running.”

Initial Challenges (1:19 – 2:28)

PLUS was faced with transitioning and consolidating old data—in other words, hard copy data—so that it could be better managed for various workflows.  This old data stretched back many years and across several litigations, presenting a secondary challenge to the PLUS team. This data needed to be handled in a way that it could reused across all the litigations taking place.

Solutions Implemented (2:29 – 7:02)

This client employed PLUS in the front end of the EDRM process, enabling a seamless transition to review, which incorporated a global approach leveraging both PLUS’ domestic team and its review team in India.  From a workflow perspective PLUS was able to review their data around the clock due to the different time zones in India and the United States and ultimately get through it quicker.  Additionally, the permanent review teams atPLUS allow them to efficiently apply the data that is reviewed and retain much of the institutional knowledge within the team. Because of the dedicated teams, the communication between the US and global teams helps streamline the review process immensely.  The team in India is sharing their findings in the documents and transferring that to the US team, creating a productive feedback loop.

By leveraging the global review team and domestic team, PLUS has reduced costs for the client by over 45% compared to a purely domestic review approach.

Takeaways (7:03 – 9:28)

It is important to view the case from a different perspective, specifically that of outside counsel and their end clients.Outside counsel is focused on resource constraints, aiming to dedicate the bulk of their resources to the legal aspects of the case, while end clients are concerned with costs and effectiveness. PLUS realized they could address both challenges by utilizing the global review team and its dedicated workflows.
